A Crafty First Birthday

Well my little girl turned one about a month ago, and as promised here are some pictures from that amazing day! It was a tea party themed day, complete with fancy dresses and good china; just what every little girl wants right? My son’s 1st birthday party was Star Wars themed as my husband loves that, so I got to live out my dream of hosting a slightly formal tea party for my little girl :)

No tea party is complete without fascinators! I made lots of feathery hair clips for the guests to pick from; some had buttons, some had butterflies, some had birds! And yes, I keep lots of my craft supplies in mason jars :)
I also covered some paper coffee cups with scrapbook paper to make them look a little nicer. This picture shows that I taped the paper on, which didn’t hold at all, so I ended up gluing the paper on instead.
Fascinators, necklaces and bracelets for dress up fun.
The purple smash cake made by my sister-in-law.
Our tea buffet table set with mason jars full of tea and pretty doilies for decoration.
Some of my antique tea cups filled with purple candies.
The food table set with my finest china ready for tea sandwiches and snacks.
Tea cup cupcakes complete with chocolate covered pretzel handles also made by my sister-in-law.

My sons 3rd birthday party was the following weekend, and I assure you it was not this over the top! Simple balloons and streamers and snacks is the usual around here, I just like going big on details and decor for the 1st birthday parties of my kids! And since I did all the decor myself, it didn’t cost very much either! Frugal and fabulous!
