Weekend Graces

I recently found a wonderful blog, The Complete Guide to Imperfect Homemaking. The title alone made we swoon, because, well, that sounds like me right there! I’m not perfect, and my home certainly isn’t, and everything that goes on inside it isn’t perfect either. Kelly is a wife and home schooling mother of 6, and runs a little series on her blog called “weekend graces”. This series is about doing something wonderful for you family just because. No special occasion, just a nice surprise on the weekend to help everyone settle in from a busy week and enjoy each others time. Ever since I read about this, I have wanted to do it too. Granted, I often do fun little things for no reason at all (ie: homemade cookies in a fort while watching a movie, delicious carrot cake just because etc), but I thought I would make it a little more official, and share it with all of you as well.

It is so nice to surprise people with little treats for no reason, a little blessing to remind them I love them, and remind us all how blessed we are. I thought this weekend would be a great time to “officially” start, because we have all had a tough couple weeks with everyone being sick. So today, while my kids played quietly in the living room, I quietly made brownies in the kitchen (my son eventually caught me, and was super excited when I told him we’d be having brownies for dessert tonight). This is my favourite recipe (I don’t make the icing, they are fine without it), they are by far the best from scratch brownies I have ever made. They are in no way healthy, just the way a brownie should be!

Are you a corner, side or middle piece eater?

Have you done something to bless someone? To show them you care and were thinking about them? I encourage you to give it a try, it’s a feel good task for everyone involved! Enjoy your weekend!
