Meal Plan Monday – August 19th 2013

What a weekend! This weekend was my big 30th birthday. Frankly, it doesn’t feel any different from past birthdays, which usually feel like a typical day to me as well. That doesn’t mean it was a boring typical day, I just don’t *feel* any older. I spent it with my little family, being showered with my favourite foods all day long and a few presents to open first thing in the morning (my present from my husband was the trip to Boston, but he helped the kids pick out some of my favourite candies, a new wallet, and some books). We went to my parents for dinner, cake, and more gifts, and tonight we’ll be at my husbands parents celebrating again. We are so blessed to live near almost all our immediate family, and get to see them every weekend, so when birthdays roll around, it usually means several little parties (and cakes!), spreading the birthday out into several days or even a week! It’s awesome.

I am trying to keep things as clean and healthy as possible for dinner this week, since we have so many treats in the house right now. Those treats that my husband and kids picked out, yeah, they came from Costco. I have a 2.2kg tub of Twizzlers on my counter! But I am not complaining, because I love junk food! And even though eating too much of it makes me feel like garbage (like how I felt last night!), I still eat it. But by eating healthy the rest of the time, it should balance things out, right? Oh I hope so…

Here is what we are eating this week:

Monday – 2nd Birthday dinner, this one with my in-laws

Tuesday – cheesy Mexican quinoa and salad

Wednesday – my famous spaghetti and salad

Thursday – grilled chicken with red peppers and carrots (from the garden!) and garlic lemon noodles

Friday – grilled sole with brown rice and grilled zucchini
